WLCF Small Grant awarded to Wooden Spoon Sussex

  • Wasps Legends donate £1,000 to Wooden Spoon Sussex.
  • Donation will help disadvantaged children and young people living in Sussex.
Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation, the past players network of Wasps, men and women, amateur and professional announced today that they have issued a small grant award of 1,000 to the Sussex Region, Wooden Spoon.

The Wooden Spoon is the children’s charity of rugby dedicated to helping disadvantaged and disabled children and young people through rugby. The Wooden Spoon funds respite and medical treatment centres, sensory room, specialist playgrounds, sports activity areas and community-based programmes around the UK.

James Harding, Chairman of Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation said of the announcement: "This is the first year that we, as a charitable foundation, have been able to award small grants to charities close to our hearts. The Wooden Spoon does such fantastic work across the country and we hope our donation will go a small way to improving lives of disadvantaged and disabled children in Sussex.”

Bob Rogers, Chairman of the Sussex Region of Wooden Spoon said of the donation: "We are very grateful to the Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation for their contribution in helping disadvantaged children and young people living in Sussex, To see their happy faces and hear how hey have gained physically, mentally and in social skills makes you realise how worthwhile our work is."

The whole of the Wasps legends squad epitomised everything rugby stands for - community spirit, great banter, competition on the pitch and the making of some lasting friendships.
