Wasps Legends donate £2,500 to Just4Children.
Donation will support the purchase of an all-terrain wheelchair for Owen Murphy.
Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation, the past players network of Wasps, men and women, amateur and professional announced today that they have issued a small grant award of £2,500 to Just4Children.
Just4Children is passionate about the relief of sickness and preservation of health of children in the UK and Ireland by providing and assisting in the provision of grants to enable them to obtain medical treatment, therapies, living environments, equipment and holidays which would not otherwise be available to them.
In 2017, Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation donated £2,500 to support the purchase specialist equipment for Owen’s therapies. The £2,500 funding awarded in 2018 will enable Owen to purchase an all-terrain wheelchair, which will enable him to go on weekend walks with his family, visit places like farms (where the paths are often uneven and so an uncomfortable ride in his everyday wheelchair. As it also fits on the back of the bike, Owen will be able to join in on family bike rides with his younger brother.
Jeremy Marris, CEO of Just4Children said of the donation: “We are thrilled that Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation is able to support Owen. He is now that little closer to receiving the therapy and treatment that he so desperately needs.”
Genevieve Glover, Chair of Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation said of the announcement: “We are very pleased to be supporting Owen through the work of Just4Chidren again this year, and it’s fantastic to see the benefit our funding is giving to Owen’s quality of life. To provide Owen with the opportunity of having quality family time and to better enjoy outside activities will give him and his family more flexibility to do things as a family.”
