Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation Grant Giving Policy

The Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation is the past players network of Wasps men, women, amateur and professional who raise money through the Wasps family for the wider community. The WLCF was established in November 2012.

The Wasps Legends community includes current and former players, commercial partners and Friends of the Legends. A Wasps Legends Member is someone from the Wasps Legends community who has paid their annual membership donation. We raise money through membership, sponsors and commercial partners, donations and events.

 

Mission Statement

The Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation’s mission is to make a positive difference to a charitable project and/or individual by utilising the characters and collective spirit of the Wasps and rugby family.

 

Target Project Group

The Foundation will support projects that are close to the heart of Wasps Legends members.

 

Target Organisations we support

Applications will be accepted from UK organisations that are registered, exempt or excepted Charities, or those recognised as Charities by Inland Revenue in Scotland or Northern Ireland. International Applications will be considered on a case by case basis but must be from recognised charities.

 

Grant Types

As a Foundation we currently operate two funding streams:

  1. Main Grant

The Main Grant is awarded on an annual basis to support a specific charitable project. The maximum grant available is £25,000 and is subject to the Foundation’s funding terms.

To apply, the recipient must be proposed by a Wasps Legends member as a charity they would like to nominate for the Main Grant.  Each member can nominate one charity per year.

 

  1. Small Grants

Small Grants are awarded up to a maximum of £2,500 in any one year period and are awarded to support a specific charitable project or individual.

To apply, the recipient must be proposed by a Wasps Legends member. Each Wasps Legends member can nominate one charity or individual per year.  (see exclusions below).

 

Exclusions

Charities with reserves of more than 50% income, administrative costs, activities primarily the responsibility of statutory agencies, replacement of lost statutory funding, research, events, advertising, holidays, sponsorship, contributions to large capital appeals, single faith charities, charities that are raising funds on behalf of another charity, will not be eligible to apply. The Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation Board reserves the right to make a final discretionary decision as to whether or not to accept any charity proposal put forward.

Applications will only be accepted if submitted by a member of Wasps Legends.

 

Enclosures

Applications will only be considered if accompanied by a signed copy of the most recent audited accounts and annual report.

 

What happens to your Application?

Applications will be assessed against a number of criteria, including user involvement, sustainability, maximum benefit and volunteer involvement. Assessment visits may be made.

The Main Grant will be awarded in January of each year and will be chosen by the members of Wasps Legends.

The Small Grants will be awarded throughout the year at the discretion of the Trustees of the Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation using the guide time frames set out above.

 

What do we expect?

Acceptance of a Grant is conditional on agreement to complete a monitoring and evaluation report. Any change in relevant circumstances must be reported.
