WLCF small grant awarded to Wasps FC
  • Wasps Legends donate £2,500 to Wasps FC
  • Donation will support disadvantaged young people within the local community

Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation, the past players network of Wasps, men and women, amateur and professional announced today that they have issued a small grant award of £2,500 to Wasps FC.

Wasps FC is a community rugby club based in Acton, West London with pockets of depravation and a relatively high proportion of financially disadvantaged families. By using the values of rugby, Wasps FC can support disadvantaged young people to create a better future for themselves. The small grant donation will provide a bursary to enable more young players to participate and benefit from the sport of rugby by subsidising 30 places for players aged 11 14 from local schools.

Richard Green, Chair of Wasps FC said of the donation: "We are very grateful to the Wasps Legends for supporting our project. The bursaries will allow us to use rugby to build confidence and empower change to some of the most vulnerable members of our community and change their lives by raising their self-esteem, improve their confidence and enjoy rugby and sport.

Genevieve Glover, Chair of Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation said of the announcement: "Supporting Wasps FC is a natural progression for the Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation, as without the club, the Legends would not exist. Supporting disadvantaged children, who we can identify from our local community and track their progress over the next few years, brings more focus to the charitable work we do.
