Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation, the past players network of Wasps men and women, amateur and professional, announced at their annual Long Lunch that their charity partners for 2017 will be the Dallaglio Foundation and the Serge Betsen Academy.

The Dallaglio Foundation was founded by former Wasps Captain Lawrence Dallaglio. The Serge Betsen Academy was founded by former Wasps player Serge Betsen.

Each year, Wasps Legends come together for a charity lunch, to raise money for the Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation. This year, Chair of the Foundation, James Harding was pleased to announce that two charities would benefit from the fundraising activities and commented: "We are still a very young charitable foundation, but through the fundraising work of the Wasps Legends family, we are in a position to support two main charities during 2017. Our relationship with the Dallaglio Foundation extends into a second year. Our donation is supporting the work of the Dallaglio Foundation’s RugbyWorks programme being delivered in the Francis Barber Pupil Referral Units (PRU).Francis Emeruwa, Head of the PRUs in Wandsworth and Tooting was also a Wasps player.”

"We are also entering a two year partnership with the Serge Betsen Academy, supporting work that Serge is doing to the Cameroon, to improve the lives of children by building children’s centres in the Cameroon. The donation will go to building a new centre in Bangangté bringing children together to see a future outside the poverty by providing access to simple, but critical, things like books, pre-school, health foods and places to play rugby and exercise.”

Lawrence Dallaglio commented "I’m delighted that Wasps Legends has chosen to extend the partnership with the Dallaglio Foundation. The support we have received from Wasps Legends has already had a profound long term impact on teenagers in most need of support. We are delighted that we can continue this positive work for another year.”

Serge Betsen, Chairman of the Serge Betsen Academy and former Wasps captain and French International player added: "I am very pleased that the Wasps Legends are supporting my academy to help improve the lives of children in our centres in Cameroon. As a small charity we are excited to have the support of the Wasps Legends family in helping us build our new centre.”

The whole of the Wasps legends squad epitomised everything rugby stands for - community spirit, great banter, competition on the pitch and the making of some lasting friendships.
