Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation announce Genevieve Glover as Chair

Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation, the past players network of Wasps men and women, amateur and professional, have announced Genevieve Glover as the new Chair, taking over from James Harding after his two years at the helm.

Harding commented: "It has been an honour and privilege to Chair the Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation for nearly two years and witness the progress that the Trustees and Directors have made in that time. A prominent highlight being the success of Peter Scrivener's vision for the 2016 World Rugby Golf Classic. The event elevating our capacity for charitable giving to incorporate an additional main beneficiary in The Serge Betsen Academy, alongside a second year supporting the Dallaglio Foundation. Plans are already established to build on this year's event in 2017 and surpass the £88,000 raised. In addition, the October Long Lunch has become a regular date in supporter diaries, while the club's 150 year celebrations in 2017 are set to be the biggest gathering of the Wasps family since Norm Bloom said he was getting a round in!! Alongside the main beneficiaries, the Foundation is seeing a growing number of smaller grants issued and I believe we are in a great place to make a real and considered difference to the projects that we support. As we all get older and our joints are less inclined to take to the pitch we must find ways of evolving how we actively fundraise so let's keep this momentum going.

"You will also be aware that the Board is made up of volunteers and as such it is right that we rotate responsibilities and incorporate new viewpoints and skills to strengthen the board and, ultimately, the Foundation. The Board is therefore pleased to welcome two new Trustees in Jonny Ufton and Solomon N'Jie who were voted in at the October AGM. In addition, I have decided to stand down as Chairman. I have thoroughly enjoyed my tenure and will continue on as a Trustee. I am delighted to announce that Genevieve Glover accepted the position of Chair as at 1st November 2016. As a past player, a Trustee of Wasps FC and current Trustee of the Foundation, Genevieve's experience and skill set is well positioned to continue to take the Foundation forward.

Glover added: "This is an exciting time for the Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation and Im honoured to be taking over from James, who has done a fantastic job leading us over the last few years. We continue to develop as a foundation and the work that the Board and Trustees are doing and the relationships we are forming with our charities means we can really make a difference to those that we support.

The whole of the Wasps legends squad epitomised everything rugby stands for - community spirit, great banter, competition on the pitch and the making of some lasting friendships.
