RIP Ted Woodward

16th January 2017

RIP Ted Woodward
It is with great sadness that Wasps mourn the passing of Vice President, Ted Woodward, one of our real legends who played wing for Wasps and England.

Ted died on Monday 16th January 2017, aged 85.

Ted played 15 times for England on the wing between 1952-56 and scored 6 tries and a penalty goal. For Wasps he subsequently moved to number 8. His grandson Jack Wallace played professional rugby briefly for Wasps. He currently plays for Bristol. Ted was President of the Wasps Golfing Society and a stalwart of Wasps history.

There is a lengthy article by Joe Hall about Ted on: World Rugby Museum: from the Vaults, Red Rose Stories: Ted Woodward from a year or so ago.

His funeral will take place at Amersham Crematorium on Friday 3rd February at 10:45am, followed by a celebration of his life at Denham Golf Club. The family have asked that if you wish to remember Ted to make a donation via JustGiving to the RFU Injured Players Association (further details to follow).

The whole of the Wasps legends squad epitomised everything rugby stands for - community spirit, great banter, competition on the pitch and the making of some lasting friendships.
